Swim Registration Form
(if you have already registered in full please open up the Re-registration form to complete a shorter registration process or email Jenny to confirm you intend to swim in the next event)
Saturday mornings will see the Wellington Coastal Swim Group take to the brine to mark off another piece of the coastline swam. The swims are endurance and fun focused. The goal will be to safely swim as much of the Wellington coastline as the weather and sea conditions allow over the 2017/18 summer months.
Swim entry fees vary based on the amount of water support required. The Matiu/Somes swim will be the most expensive due to the need to transport you to and from the Island. For all other swims the fee is $20/swim for all swimmers registered before 5 pm Thursday, and all other entries will be $25/swim.
Conditions will necessitate flexibility in planning - start and finish points maybe altered on the morning of the swims. Please ensure you are signed up to the Wellington Coastal Sea Swim Series Facebook site for ease of communication (link to the FB page above RHS).
With the exception of the Matiu/Somes Island swim, courses will be set so swimmers remain within 50 m of the coastline at any point, so allowing increased safety. Pre-swim safety briefing will before before each swim.
You must be confident that you have the skills and fitness to swim 2.5 km in the sea for the short 2 km swim. For all other swims you must be happy that you can swim 500 m further than the length of the swim advertised - for instance for a 3.5 km swim you need to be able to safely swim in the sea 4 km. You ability to swim with ease will be dictated by a combination of your preparation, the weather and the sea temperature.
If you are unsure call Jenny to discuss (027 24 23527). If any swimmers exit the water early please ensure you contact me ASAP to confirm. All swimmers must register before the event, be at the swim briefing and sign out once exiting the water.
We will put in measures to support you as you swim however the golden rule is to swim with a swim buddy and 'if in doubt, please get out'. Your safety and of other swimmers, and the organisers is critical to achieving our objectives. By signing up you are accepting personal responsibility for your own safety.
I'm very excited at the prospect of doing something a little different this summer! A spirit of adventure, swim fitness, gear and common sense is all that's required.
Let's swim this harbour!
